the wedding party
The Maids
Lilli Wosk, Maid of Honor
I met Lilli in the hospital on the day she was born (we are “birth friends”). We grew up together pushing oranges around the kitchen floor before we could walk, then started having slumber parties, taking dance classes together, and talking about boys. We lived across the street from each other for a few years, and spent every afternoon pretending to do our homework together. Now that she lives in New York, I don’t get to see her as often, but it was amazing getting to visit her! I love her free spirit and silly personality. She is the most talented, creative person I know. She is my best friend, and my fairy god sister.
Rachael Tighe, Bridesmaid
I was so excited when Tuan’s good friend, Adrian, started dating such a sweet girl. Rachael and I were forced to hang out together and have couple’s date-nights, and we instantly bonded. We even worked together for a short time when she first moved to Walnut Creek to be with Adrian. She has become such a good friend to me, and we often ditch the boys so we can hang out by ourselves (taking walks, going to yoga, having girl’s nights, and drinking champagne guava sparklers). She also threw us an amazing engagement party!
Kristine Nguyen, Bridesmaid
Although she’s 4 years younger, Kristine (or Vy as her family calls her) is the spitting image of her brother. When Tuan and Vy hang out, it is so entertaining. I am so lucky to be inheriting such an amazing sister who makes me laugh nonstop. I’ve loved getting to know her over all these years, and she’s become more of a friend to me than a future sister-in-law.
Colleen Chandlee, Bridesmaid
When I met Colleen, I knew we would be instant friends. We share the same love of wine, clothes, and country music! Colleen has the biggest heart of anyone I know, always putting others before herself. Although she lives in Southern California, we take trips down there and stay at her house as often as we can (Stagecoach Country Music Festival, 4th of July/Colleen’s birthday weekend, New Years, etc.). And if she has it her way, we’ll eventually end up down there with her… she’s very persistent!
Mackenzie Foellmer, Bridesmaid
Since I never had siblings growing up, I always looked forward to my summer vacations when I would fly down to Southern California and stay with my cousins. Kenzie and I are one day apart in age, and she is like a sister to me. The oldest of five children, I always looked up to how independent and mature she was. But we definitely knew how to have fun together! Practicing our dance moves in her bedroom (while her younger sister spied on us from under the bed) and building forts on the beach in front of our family’s beach house are some of my fondest memories.
The Men
Thang Nguyen, Best Man
Thang has been the best brother I could ever have. No matter what, he's always been there for me whenever I needed him and I can't thank him enough for all that he's done. He has that rare selfless quality of putting people around him above himself. Thank you, hermano, for everything, and for also surprising me with that G.I. Joe Stealth Bomber for Christmas when I was 9. That was the best gift ever!
Adrian Tighe, Groomsmen
Adrian is one of those guys that is always down to do anything, anywhere, anytime. He's great to have around because once he decides he's going to do something, he's going at it big. From random road trips to playing golf at Boundary, it's always good times. Thanks, Stork, for going along with most of my random ideas and making them happen.
Sean Cooley, Groomsmen
Even though I don't get to see Sean that much anymore after his move to Seattle, whenever we meet up it's like he never left. He has that drive and determination that's inspiring and makes you want to be better. Thanks, Cooley, for challenging me and helping me achieve my life and career goals.
Sterling Fairholm, Groomsmen
Although I've known Sterling for almost eight years, we've really become great friends over the last couple years. We're both extremely competitive, turning everything we do into a competition, which makes life exciting. With Sterling, there's never a dull moment. Thanks buddy, for making all the sports and games we play together fun, and letting me own you in most of the things we do!
Ryan Summerrill, Groomsmen
I've known Summerrill for a long time, dating back to our days at Soquel Elementary. I like being around him because he's always positive and nothing seems to ever get to him. He could be having a really bad day, but you'll never know it. His optimism is one of the reasons why I've always looked up to him as someone I want to live my life like. Thanks, Summerrill, for being a great friend after all these years.
Darren Chandlee - Officiant
Tuan met Darren when he joined Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity at Cal Poly. They became close friends right away and shared many crazy adventures together. Tuan even attended the wedding of Darren’s mom and step-father, and made an unforgettable toast to his grandmother. Caitlin met Darren when she started hanging out at the fraternity house and spending time with Tuan. He was always one of her favorite of the boys that lived at the house. After college, Darren began his world travels (first Bolivia, then China), but never lost touch. Darren always plans time to come stay with us when he is back in the states, and we always make an effort to fly to Southern California when he is home. He knows both of us so well (and has seen us at our very best… and very worst). Darren has become such an important part of both of our lives, and we cannot think of anyone that is more suited to officiate our wedding.
